Learn the fundamentals to the art of DJing and song selection by going through different genres and their tempo ranges, and how DJs count their music using beats, bars and phrases terminology for mixing tracks.
SONG STRUCTURE & TRACK ARRANGEMENT
Learn to identify the structure of a song with all its parts (Intro, Verse, Drop, Bridge, etc.) and how to arrange the tracks when keeping in mind how to transition between songs while DJing.
REKORDBOX MUSIC MANAGEMENT
Learn the Rekordbox software used for managing your music, creating DJ sets and playlists, recording your mix, editing song info and waveform metadata and importing your collection onto your USBs.
DEVELOPING A BASIC MIXING FOUNDATION
Start practicing the basic buttons on the Pioneer CDJs and Mixer such as CUE, PLAY/PAUSE, Channel Faders, Jog Wheel etc. and develop the basic foundation for loading songs onto your decks and mixing.
BEAT MATCHING
Learn through practice how to mix and transition between two songs while DJing, popularly known as BEAT MATCHING. Incorporate your headphones and basic jogwheel to fix the grid position of your tracks.
UNDERSTANDING EQ METHODS
See how to apply the knobs on the mixer for each individual channels i.e. EQs for each of the frequency bands - Lows, Mids, Highs and all the different EQ Methods you can use when transitioning between tracks.
PHRASE MATCHING
Apply the understanding of your concepts of Track Arrangement and beat match your tracks in the order of phrases to create an even more seamless mix. Learn the mathematical approach required to become skilled at phrase matching on the fly.
HARMONIC MIXING
Learn how to read the Camelot Wheel and mix your tracks and create DJ Sets in key i.e creating a harmonic mix. Learn how to choose tracks and filter in the browse section of the CDJs when applying harmonic mixing.

Apply all the effects on the Pioneer DJ Mixer such as Beat FX (Echo, Reverb, Phaser, Flanger, Roll, etc.) and Color FX (Filter, Dub Echo, Noise, etc.) to your tracks when mixing.
MEMORY CUES, HOT CUES AND WARP MARKERS
Learn how to apply memory cues, hot cues and align your grid markers based on your track arrangement. Apply combination of hot cues and looping to create multiple transition regions for your track.

Use Loop features on the Pioneer CDJs and how to use sampling as an option in Rekordbox along with your tracks for creative effect.

Lost stories are a name synonymous to Dance Music in India and South Asia. Ranked #52 on Dj mag 2016 and labelled the “Scene Starters” by DJ Mag, Rishab and Prayag began their journey in dance music in 2008 earlier producing Trance and Progressive House and garnering support from heavyweights like Tiesto, Armin van Buuren, BT, Markus Schulz etc. They then evolved their sound with their debut album – Music for the # Generation (Universal Music) in 2012 which was the no 3 Album on Top 100 Dance Albums iTunes Charts.
Ever since, they’ve had 3 #1 singles on iTunes and remixed the likes of One Republic, Afrojack, Alan Walker with releases on Universal Music, Interscope Records, Sony Music and Spinnin’ Records.
Lost Stories are the biggest Dance Music exports with Performances at Tomorrowland (2015-2019), Global Citizen Festival, Mysteryland, New Horizons Festival, Electric Daisy Carnival, Sunburn, VH1 Supersonic etc.
They’ve done extensive club and local festivals tours in India, UAE, China, Europe, Mexico and multiple South Asian countries.
Lost Stories Academy, an initiative by Lost Stories has been a pioneer in electronic music education since 2015. Lost Stories are India’s most renowned export from India to the world in the field of electronic music production. From representating India at world’s largest festival, Tomorrowland for five times to working with world renowned artists such as KSHMR, Marshmello, U2, One Republic, Alan Walker, etc. They have steadily raised India’s flag on world stages for over a decade.
Students are required to carry their laptop, wired headphones and a Pen-drive/USB to manage all their music and learn the Rekordbox software. Students do not require their own DJing equipment for the course. The course will be taught on the Pioneer CDJ-2000 NXS2 and DJM-900 NXS2 console at the Academy, which will be made available for you throughout the duration of the course.
The course will cover mixing on only the CDJs. However, the course includes a detailed insight into Rekordbox Music Management, and how to better manage and arrange your music using Rekordbox
Upon course completion, every student will receive a certificate stating he/she has completed the course from the Lost Stories Academy in Mumbai
There will be a maximum of 8 students in each batch
In addition to the training hours, students will be given specific practice & recording sessions. Subject to availability of the console, students can schedule practice hours at the Academy
The Lost Stories Academy will not provide guaranteed placements to students upon completion of the course. That being said, we do provide our DJ course students with regular performance opportunities from time to time. A large number of our past DJ students have gotten opportunities to perform at various Clubs & Festivals through a network of promoters we are in touch with. This, however, is subject to your performance through the duration of the course.
